Tyler Saucier
Instructor
Tyler Saucier is the type of teacher we all want: highly skilled but humble, focused but perpetually laid back, and always––always––kind. Beloved by his fellow Houston musicians, Tyler has endeared himself to his students, too, thanks to the seamless way he’s been able to blend years of experience as an artist with years of mentoring others.
Tyler is most passionate about helping aspiring players understand not just individual music concepts, but how those concepts are connected to one another. “Once you start to connect the dots, you can start taking what you find most interesting––and adopt those ideas to form your own musical identity,” he explains.
While years and miles logged with his own band––Houston indie darlings Sunrise & Ammunition––has shaped his teaching approach, Tyler has also studied under contemporary guitar masters including Isaiah Sharkey, Pedro Martins, and Niwel Tsumbu.
Comfortable teaching students of all ages, Tyler teaches all levels of guitar and bass, as well as beginner-to-intermediate voice, drums, and piano. While he specializes in progressive and psychedelic rock, Tyler loves to teach and explore it all, from jazz to metal. He’s also happy to work with our Spanish-speaking students.
“I love to see the pride and joy on a student’s face when they unlock a new level of playing,” Tyler says. “They realize the better you get, the more fun it is!”
